Morgan County

Roofing in Morgan County, from Madison's historic district to the farms

Morgan County is the edge of our coverage to the east, and it has some of the most interesting roofs we work on. Madison's historic district has slate, terra cotta and old metal; the farms around Rutledge and Bostwick have barns and shops; and new building is coming with the Rivian plant.

Slate roof repair on a historic house in Madison

Quick answer

Roofing in Morgan County, Georgia reaches from Madison to Rutledge and the farm country around them, and it borders the county our Newborn head office sits in. We repair slate, tile, cedar and metal roofs on historic homes, replace shingle roofs, and roof barns and shops. The phone is answered around the clock.

Madison

Madison's historic roofs

The Madison Historic District, first listed on the National Register in 1974 and expanded since, is recorded as an intact, well-preserved historic town, and its roofs show it: slate, terra cotta, standing seam metal and asphalt, including pyramidal slate roofs downtown. Repairing them is slow, careful work, and the first rule is to match what is there.

We replace broken and slipped slates with matched slate, reset tiles, rebuild flashing at chimneys and dormers, and repair or replace old metal with profiles that fit the house. If a home is inside a locally designated district, exterior changes can need the city's approval before a permit is issued, so we check that before any work is scheduled.

Head office next door

Close to the head office

Morgan borders Newton County, and our head office on Highway 142 in Newborn is close to the county line, so Madison, Rutledge and Bostwick are a reasonable drive rather than a long haul from the city. Coverage to the east runs out not far past Madison, and we say so plainly when a job is too far to serve well.

Outside town, the work is barns, equipment sheds and shops under metal, farmhouses under shingles and metal, and the homes along the Lake Oconee side of the county.

What is changing

A plant on the county line

Rivian broke ground in September 2025 at Stanton Springs North, a roughly 2,000-acre site in southern Morgan and Walton counties near Rutledge and Social Circle. First-phase construction is set for 2026 and vehicle production for 2028, and the building around it is already bringing new homes and new commercial roofs to a county that has changed slowly for a long time.

What we see on Morgan County roofs

Madison's historic district still has slate, terra cotta and old metal roofs, and the National Register record notes pyramidal slate roofs downtown, so repairs there start with matching what is on the house. South of Madison, the Rivian site between Rutledge and Social Circle is bringing new construction to Morgan County, and the farm buildings around both towns keep metal roofing and metal repairs steady all year.
