Siding
Siding repair and replacement for Atlanta homes
Siding takes the same storms the roof does, and it is the part of the house everyone sees. We repair what can be matched, replace what cannot, and fix the water barrier behind it.

Quick answer
Siding repair in Atlanta usually means replacing hail-cracked or wind-loosened vinyl panels and damaged fiber cement boards, then checking the house wrap and flashing behind them. Full replacement makes sense when panels no longer match, the siding has gone brittle, or water has reached the sheathing. We match profile and color where products still exist and document storm damage for claims.
The work
What siding damage really costs
Cracked or missing siding looks cosmetic, but it opens the wall to water. Behind the panels, house wrap and window flashing are the actual water barrier, and once rain gets past them it soaks sheathing and framing where nobody sees it until the wall is opened.
Matching matters most. Siding colors fade and profiles get discontinued, so a small repair on an older wall can stand out; we show you the match before we start.

Options
Vinyl or fiber cement
| Factor | Vinyl | Fiber cement |
|---|---|---|
| Material | PVC panels that lock together | Cement and wood fiber boards |
| Hail and impact | Can crack, especially when cold | More impact resistant |
| Finish | Color through the panel | Painted or factory finished |
| Upkeep | Washing; no painting | Repainting over time unless factory finished |
| Cost position | Lower installed cost | Higher installed cost |
Both need proper house wrap and flashing behind them; that layer does most of the waterproofing.

Storm-damaged siding repair
Hail cracks and punctures vinyl, and wind lifts panels until the locking edges let go. We remove the damaged courses, check the house wrap underneath for tears, and install replacement panels that lock into the existing siding above and below. Fiber cement boards with broken edges or impact damage are cut out and replaced. Every damaged area is photographed before repair, and where the storm also hit the roof and gutters, it all goes into one report for the claim.

Fiber cement siding
Fiber cement boards resist impact, fire and rot better than vinyl, and they hold paint well, which makes them a common upgrade after storm damage. They are heavy and need the right fasteners, clearances at the roofline and ground, and flashing at every window and butt joint. We install over new house wrap, keep the required gap above roofs and grade, and prime or order factory-finished boards so cut edges are sealed. Factory finishes go longer between coats than site paint.

Vinyl siding replacement
When vinyl has faded, gone brittle or can no longer be matched, replacing a full wall or the whole house often costs less than chasing mismatched patches. We strip the old siding, repair any soft sheathing, install new house wrap with flashed windows and doors, and hang new panels with room to expand in summer heat. Nailing too tight is the most common reason vinyl buckles, so every panel is hung loose in its slot, and each course is checked for level before the next goes up.

Storms, siding and historic districts
When the National Weather Service warned of damage over Acworth on July 3, 2026, it listed siding right alongside roofs and trees, with 60 mph gusts and quarter-size hail in the forecast; the walls take the storm too. Inside Atlanta, historic districts add a step. Replacing siding on homes in West End, Adair Park or Oakland City is an exterior alteration that goes through the Urban Design Commission's Certificate of Appropriateness review, so we confirm approval before any wall comes off.

FAQ
Siding questions
Often, if the profile and color are still made. If not, we show the closest options or suggest re-siding a full wall so the change falls at a corner.
Hail and wind are usually covered perils on Georgia homeowner policies, and your insurer decides. We document siding damage with the roof.
Vinyl costs less and needs no paint; fiber cement resists impact and fire better. Budget and look usually decide it.
Usually it was nailed too tight to expand in summer heat. Re-hanging it with proper spacing fixes it.
Yes, whenever siding comes off. Torn or missing wrap is replaced and windows are flashed before new siding goes up.
In Atlanta's locally designated districts, siding replacement goes through the Urban Design Commission. We confirm first.
